Keep WeAreCousins At Your Fingertips With Our Android App

I had been toying around with the idea of getting an app for WeAreCousins and I finally got one. You can download it for your android phone or device by scanning the QR code in this post or scan the one on the sidebar. You can also download it and place it on your phone to install it. Subscriber of my newsletter also got the chance to download it since Sunday. You should also signup for it if you have not done so.

This app will basically open my blog without the need to enter the address in the url or searh for it on Google. I think it is a very convenient and easy way to access the blog either to share it with your family or just show it off to your friends.

Once I can get some funding together I plan to get an app made that would display this blog in a blog format and thus make it easier to view and read the posts. I would also like for it to search the whole website to help us search its content. Of course these type of apps cost about $500 and up. I sure don't have that amount of cash. If you anyone that can do it cheaper let me know.

WeAreCousins Has Started a Forum on South Texas and Northeastern Mexico Genealogy

Starting today WeAreCousins will have a forum. You can view it at WeAreCousins Forum or just click on the top menu where it says forum.

I strongly recommend that you sign up and start posting requests, photos, stories, and ask for help about your own Genealogy brickwalls. You never know someone out there may have what you need or you may have what they need. You may ask yourself, Why a forum? I think a forum is a great way to create an online community interested in South Texas and Northeastern Genealogy.

A community that can help each other do research and also a place where new people, to genealogy, can get tips and advised from more experiensed researchers. If you are interested in becoming an administrator let me know. I will be on the forum at nights and on weekends to help anyone, these are the times that I have time to do it. See you there.

Website, History and Genealogy of South Texas and Northeast Mexico

When I started to do Genealogy research and also look into South Texas and Northeastern Mexico Genealogy I always came across Guillermo Guerra's Website  at VSALGS.org. It contains alot of information about South Texas, Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, and Cohuila. I highly recommend that everyone interested in this area check it out.

The only problem that I have noticed is that he has not updated it since 2004, but most of the information is timeless and still very relevant.

User Request - Felipe Perez and Eduvijes Salinas

I received the following message on May the 14, I just someone out there can help out.

hello,
I am trying to find out some information about my great-great-great grandmother her name was Eduvijes Salinas (not sure if I spelled her name correctly) and she was married to Felipe Perez. They had several children: Gregorio, Francisca, Eligio, Tomasa and Virginia.  I was able to find a marriage for them in Starr, Texas on the 28th of May 1878 however I have not had any other luck locating any other information.  One of their children Gregorio Perez was married to Virginia Garza on the 12th of March 1880 in Hidalgo county Texas USA (marriage sources for both Eduvijes/Felipe & Gregorio/Virginia are from familysearch) Virginia Garza is my great-great grandmother who I also have had no luck finding any information on her family.  Most of my family lived in south Texas. any help would be appreciated.

Manuel Marroquin Valdez and Guadalupe Rodriguez Silva, 1830 Church Marriage in Santiago de Guajuco, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

This is the 1830s Church marriage record of my 3rd great grandparents, Manuel Marroquin and Guadalupe Rodriguez. Manuel Marroquin was the son of Juan Jose Marroquin and Maria Gertrudis Valdez. Guadalupe Rodriguez was the daughter of Jose Antonio Rodriguez and Maria Ygnacia Silva. This document is vey interesting since it indicates that they are related by 3rd and 2nd grades of consanguinity, meaning that they were related. Manuel's maternal grandmother was Maria Antonia Rodriguez and might be related to Guadalupe's father Jose Antonio Rodriguez. Unfortunately I have not been able to find the grandparents of Guadalupe Rodriguez in order to have a clearer picture of there relation.
