Civil and Church Marriage of Hermenegildo Garcia Salinas and Maria Guadalupe Davila Villarreal, General Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

“Thank you for producing such a helpful site. Through the families of General Teran, I was able to find records for my great-great-grandparents. I was wondering if there is further information existing after 1871. I have records for the births of Hermengildo Garcia Salinas and Maria Gaudelupe Davila Villarreal, but I cannot find record of their marriage. My great grandmother's name was Amparo Garcia and she was either born in 1912 or 1914. A”

Take Your Time Don't Rush Your Research

As the title states it, slow down. Many, many years ago something sparked and I have been doing genealogy research since then. I must have been blinded since I was just eager to find the next name and trying to go back as far back as possible. Well as previously mentioned I have decided to start my family tree from scratch using what I have available. With the primary goal being that every name or fact has to have a citation.

I am slowly evaluating the data and transcribing documents, I just cant believe how much information I was leaving out. I have slowed down by entering and focusing on one ancestor at a time.

Guess what I was even astonished to find out that on two of my ancestors I had the wrong parents for them and thus leading me to research many individuals that are not even my ancestors, major rookie mistake, but it is now fixed due to the reevaluation of my original documents. Oh Well, Live and Learn!

Map of Municipalities of Tamaulipas, Mexico

When in doubt as to what town belongs in what municipality in Tamaulipas, I like this resource to help me make that determination. I'll be posting the Nuevo Leon map very soon. You can also make an image by doing a print screen to do an overlay in Google earth if you really need to pinpoint a certain locality. Also it is always good to find the history of the municipality since the lines do tend to move. My major interest is on the municipalities of Guerrero, Mier, Camargo, Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, and Reynosa.

Yldefonso Zamora Mendoza - 1887 Civil Registration Birth Record, Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico

I was searching for the birth record of Cesareo Lopez my great-grandfather in the Mier Civil Registry at FamilySearch and instead came across my other great-grandfathers birth record. All I had for him was his name and names of his parents. I had originally assumed that he ans his parents were from Zacatecas Mexico but turns out they are not. I had previously written a post about his mother Paula Mendoza and had found her parents, who were from Zacatecas/Jalisco and now this document indicates that they may have had been from Guadalajara. But I had completely no information on his father Gabino Zamora. Well now I have his parents names Fernando Zamora and Marta Garza, and it also indicates that they were from Cadereyta Jimenez, Nuevo Leon. I'll be posting latter on on my research about these families.

I have done it!! So far So Good.

As I mentioned before, I had bought Family Tree Maker Deluxe but was kind of alien to me. After a couple of days it has started to grow on me. I just thought and let you all know about it. Also I would like to get any tips on using it or hear how this software has helped you guys out. I currently started my Family Tree again from scratch, with the golden rule being never add anyone without at least one citation. I started with my kids and will work all the way back until supporting documentation allows it. I have not dumped Family Tree Builder since it will be my research/leads database. Now back to talking about the software.

What I like.

The main feature that I like is that I can create my own facts and manage them and attach any type of media to them.

What I do not like.

Unfortunately, what I do not like so far is that I have to crop my images to make them portrait like to assign them to that person. I don't know if I am explaining my self correctly or not but I expected something like Family Tree Builder where you could select several faces out of one picture. Maybe I am doing it wrong.

I hope I don't give up on it.

Paula Mendoza Mireles - 1932 Civil Registry Death Record, Arcabuz, Tamaulipas, Mexico

This is the death record of Paula Mendoza, one of my brick walls. Did I say brick walls? Well thanks to this record she is no longer one of my brick walls. Paula Mendoza is my great-great-grandmother for whom I had not been able to find her parents but the following document clearly indicates that her fathers name was Tiburcio Mendoza and her mother's name was Lorenza Mireles. It also indicates that they were from Zacatecas. Through a bit more research I found out that they were form a small town named Ojuelos, Zacatecas, Mexico. More research pending.  :  )

" En la Congregacion de Arcabuz, Tamaulipas, a las 18 diesiocho dias del mes de Abril de 1932 mil novecientos treinta y dos; hallandome en el despacho de esta Oficina se recibio una acta que a la letra dice. = " En el Rancho de El Nogalito, Jurisdicion de Ciudad Mier, a horas que son las diez del dia 15 quince de Abril de 1932 mil novecientos treinta y dos, ante mi Eulalio Hinojosa, Subdelegado Municipal de esra comprencion, comparecio el senor Zenon Zamora, soltero, mayor de edad, y de esta vecindad, manifestando que a las cinco horas de el dia de hoy, en el rancho de La Meca y en su propia casa fallecio la senora "Paula Mendoza" ha consecuencia de fiebre; a la edad de 62 sesenta y dos anos; que dejo desendientes, que el cadaver fue sepultado en el cemeterio de Arcabuz y que fue hija de los finados Tiburcio Mendoza y Senora Lorenza Mireles, originarios de Zacatecas. Martin Garza Garcia - 1929 Civil Registration Death Record, Arcabuz, Tamaulipas, Mexico

I had no idea that I would ever come across this document since Martin Garza my great-great-grandfather was born in Jan 30 1837. Good thing he lived to the great old age of 92. With this document I also found another one of his sons that I didn't even know he had. Nicolas Garza. My uncle had told me that Martin does have a head stone at the cemetery but he forgot to tell me which one. This document also indicates that he was buried in the Cemetery of Congregacion Arcabuz.

En Arcabuz, Tamaulipas, a horas que son las < 10 > diez del dia < 23 > veintitres de Febreroo de  1929 mil novecientos veintinueve, ante mi, Severiano M. Garza, Juez del Registro Civil, de esta Congregacion, Comparecio el Senor Nicolas Garza, Quien Espreso ser vecino de este lugar, casado, agricultor, de 58, cincuenta y ocho anos de edad, y manifesto que ayer, en su propia casa, y a las < 20 > veinte horas, fallecio de fiebre y a la edad de 92 noventa y dos anos, su papa el Senor Martin Garza. Expreso el exponente, que el finado fue hijo legitimo del Senor Rafael Garza y la Senora Ramona Garcia, finados ya y vecinos originarios que fueron de este lugar. Que el finado deja descendientes y que fue viudo, habiendo sido su esposa la Senora Ruperta Lopez. Su cadaver fue sepultado en el semeterio de esta congregacion.

Fueron testigos de esta, los Senores Guadalupe Garcia y Ambrosio Ramirez, ambos casados, agricultores mayores de edad y de esta vecindad. Francisca Perez Tamez - 1928 Civil Registration Death Record, Arcabuz, Tamaulipas, Mexico

Here is the Civil Registry record of my great-great-grandmother Francisca Perez. Her parents are listed as being Narcizo Perez and Juana Tamez. I think that all this hard work of transcribing all the Marriage, Birth, and Death records is paying off.

En Arcabuz, Tamaulipas a horas que son las < 15 > quince del dia < 12 > dose de Julio de < 1928 > mil novecientos veintiocho, ante mi Severiano M. Garza, Juez del Registro Civil, de esta Municipalidad, Comparecio el Ciudadano Jesus Maria Marroquin, Quien Espreso ser vecino de este lugar, casado, de < 52 > sincuenta y dos anos de edad, agricultor, y manifesto que ayer a las < 11 >, once horas, en su casa, fallecio su mama la senora Francisca Peres, Viuda de Marroquin, a consecuencia de un, ataque de paralicis, a la edad de < 80 > ochenta anos.

Manifesto el exponente que la finada deja desendientes, y que fue hija lejitima del Senor Narzio Peres y de la Senora Juana Tamez, finados ya y vecinos que fueron, de la Villa de Allende Nuevo Leon, fueron testigos de esta acta los Senores Ysmael Gonzalez y Cecilio Garza, hijo, ambos casados, agricultores y vecinos de este lugar.
