En Este dia mes y ano en Esta capilla despote y Case por palabras de presente y Cele in facie Eclasie a Melchor de Trevino y a D Antonia de la Graza aviendo adquirido de tercero grado y aviendo precedido Las Vanas en 27 de henero y en 2 y 3 de febrero de este presente ano Siendo testigos Sa Angel de la Garza y el Cap Augn. de la Vera y para que conste lo firme = ut supra -

To fully appreciate this document one has to look at the previous marriage since it sets the date and place that Melchor and Antonia got married. It reads "En quatro de febrero de mil seisientos y nobenta y siete anos en La Capilla de S. Franco. de la Jurisdision de esta ciudad". Hacienda de San Francisco is present day Apodaca Nuevo Leon.

Los Marroquin de el Valle de Santiago del Guaxuco - Book by Lee James Nichols

If you keep up with my blog then you are already aware that my paternal grandmothers last name was Marroquin. So you can imagine the excitement that I had when I found this book, Los Marroquin de el Valle de Santiago del Guaxuco - by Lee James Nichols, at the University of Texas Pan American.

First of all, many thanks to the author for donating it to the University,  Second of all, if you are a Marroquin or have Marroquin ancestors this is defenetly the book to check out.

The author lists his ancestors all the way back to the marriage of Nicolas Marroquin and Francisca Rodriguez on 1-9-1707 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

If you do not have access to UTPA and really want to get a hold of this book you can always buy it for $55.00 at Borderlands Book Store.

Jose de la Trinidad de la Pena - 1830 Baptism in Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico

The following is the 1830 baptism of my 3rd great grandfather Jose de la Trinidad de la Pena. He was nine days old when baptized. This document lists his parents as Jose Trinidad Pena and Maria de San Juan Garza. His godparents are lsited as Julian Lopez and Gregoria Garcia.

The Medallion - Texas Historical Commission's Official Magazine

Just wanted to let you know about The Medallion the official magazine of the Texas Historical Commission. You can check their website here, Texas Historical Commission.

You can subscribe for free to receive issues as they are printed. I subscribed and within a week I had a Packet with the latest three issues. Found out that a nearby 1950's Fruit Company was designated as a historical site. The Magazine is rich in Texas history and you never know your ancestors might even be featured there.

If you can't wait for your issues, you can always read the current or past issues on their website.
